What is grouped under the name skin booster

Understanding Treatments

Skin booster is not the name of one product; it is closer to a term that groups together several injectable preparations with a similar purpose.

What the term refers to

Skin booster is an expression covering preparations injected into relatively shallow layers with the aim of improving the skin's own hydration, texture and firmness rather than creating volume. Understanding first that it is a category grouped by purpose rather than one fixed ingredient reduces confusion.

The character differs by ingredient

  • Hyaluronic acid types make use of the property of drawing in water. They are used in the direction of refining hydration and texture within the skin.
  • PDRN and PN types are DNA-derived ingredients extracted and purified from sources such as salmon, and are dealt with in research related to regeneration. The two names differ in molecular size and method of purification.
  • Amino acid and complex types are introduced as combining several ingredients for the purpose of supporting the skin environment.
  • Collagen-stimulating types aim at the reaction that appears over time rather than at the change immediately after injection.

How they differ from fillers

The purpose of a filler is to fill a hollow and create contour, and it is generally injected in a set amount, gathered in a deeper layer. A skin booster, by contrast, is placed in small amounts spread widely in shallow layers to refine the condition of the skin itself. Even when the same hyaluronic acid is used, the formulation, injection depth and purpose differ.

Why it does not end in one session

Skin boosters are usually carried out over several sessions rather than once, with intervals between them, because the skin needs time to respond and recover. There are also cases in which it is hard to conclude that it does not suit you simply because you feel little change in the first few sessions.

The days after a procedure

Right after injection, small bumps, minor bruising or swelling may remain for a day or two. If you have an important schedule, it is better to plan with some margin. After a procedure, gentle cleansing, moisturising and sun protection can help recovery, while exfoliants, high-concentration active ingredients, saunas and intense exercise are generally avoided for the period you are advised.

Because suitability and intervals differ by ingredient and formulation, checking at the consultation which preparation is used for which purpose helps you decide.
