Your First Skin Clinic Visit in Korea: 5 Things to Prepare Before Choosing a Treatment

2026. 10. 2.

First Visit Guide

Planning your first skin consultation in Korea? MASON CLINIC explains what to prepare: your concerns, treatment history, medications, travel dates, preferred language and questions.

Hello from MASON CLINIC.

Thinking about a skin treatment in Korea, but not sure which one to choose?

“I've heard of this treatment, but is it right for my skin?”

“My trip is short. Can I start with a consultation?”

A search can bring up a long list of devices and treatments. Even after saving reviews you like, finding the words to describe your own concerns can feel harder than choosing a name.

You do not need to decide on a treatment before your visit. Start with what bothers you, the change you would like to see and your schedule. Here are five things to prepare for your first skin consultation in Korea.

Describe when you notice your concern

“I'd like my skin to look better.” That is a perfectly reasonable starting point. Try adding a little detail from everyday life.

Does the texture of your cheeks stand out when you apply makeup? Does your jawline bother you in photographs? Does your skin often feel tight after cleansing? Noting when you first noticed the change can also help you explain it.

Think about changes you want—and changes you would rather avoid. Wanting a slightly more refreshed appearance is different from feeling comfortable with a noticeable increase in volume. These preferences matter during a consultation.

Share your treatment history and medications

Even when two people describe a similar concern, their previous treatments and reactions may call for different considerations.

Make a note of the treatment name, area, approximate date and any discomfort you remember. If the name escapes you, bring any available records or product details. There is no need to guess what you cannot recall.

Also share your oral and topical medications, supplements, allergies and conditions being treated. Pregnancy or breastfeeding is relevant too. Do not stop prescribed medication on your own to prepare for a procedure; ask your treating clinician whether any change is needed.

Plan for the days after treatment, too

A short stay in Korea can make it tempting to fit several treatments into one visit. A limited travel schedule alone is not a reason to have them all together.

Share your arrival and departure dates, photo shoots, important events, exercise plans and outdoor activities. Depending on the procedure, redness, swelling or bruising may occur, and recovery varies. It is difficult to promise in advance that your plans the next day will be unaffected.

Ask how to make contact if you need advice after returning home and whether a follow-up visit is needed. If treatment does not fit your schedule, discuss postponing it or having a consultation only.

Prepare your preferred language and key information

If explaining your concerns in Korean feels difficult, mention your preferred language when you enquire about an appointment. Confirm whether consultation or interpretation in that language is available before you visit.

A translation app can help you prepare notes. Medicine names, allergies and previous treatment names can be mistranslated, so bring the original wording or product photographs as well.

It is fine to ask for an explanation again. Before deciding, make sure you understand the procedure, expected changes, possible side effects and aftercare.

Keep these questions for the consultation

  • What should we assess first about my concern?
  • What options could I consider, including alternatives?
  • What changes are realistic, and what are the limitations?
  • What are the expected costs, side effects and recovery precautions?
  • Who should I contact if a problem develops afterward?

You do not need to memorise every question. Save them on your phone and go through them during the appointment. Alongside the procedure price, ask whether aftercare or follow-up appointments have additional fees.

A few more questions before your first visit

Can I have a consultation without choosing a treatment?
Yes. You can start by explaining your concerns and goals, even if you have no treatment name in mind. Suitable options can be discussed after assessing your skin and treatment history.
Can I have treatment on the day of my consultation?
This depends on the assessment, procedure and appointment availability. Ask ahead if you would like a same-day procedure. Even if scheduling is possible, final suitability must be confirmed during the consultation.
Can I have my consultation in another language?
Share your preferred language and visit date, and confirm availability first. A translated article on the website does not, by itself, mean that consultations in that language are offered.

Your first consultation starts with your own concerns

It is fine to arrive after plenty of research. It is also fine to feel unsure. Start with the one thing that matters most to you.

At MASON CLINIC, our principle is to recommend only what is needed, in the amount needed. We consider your skin concerns, desired changes and everyday schedule together.

When enquiring about a visit, include your preferred date, consultation language and main concern. The first step is understanding what your skin may need.
