Acne Care Guide
Before applying another patch, check what kind it is and what is happening on your skin.
“Whenever a spot appears, I put a patch on it first.” These small, convenient products do not all serve the same purpose, and they do not suit every breakout.
Hello from Mason Clinic, near Exit 7 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Seoul. Here are some points to check before simply leaving a patch on for longer.

A standard hydrocolloid patch may absorb surface fluid and cover a spot to discourage picking. It is different from a patch containing active acne-treatment ingredients.
Start by checking the material, ingredients and intended use on the packaging. The label “pimple patch” does not mean every product should be used in the same way.
Patches alone have limited usefulness for deep, painful lesions or blackheads. Protecting the surface is different from treating recurring acne.
If spots repeatedly appear in the same area, note when they started and how often they return instead of focusing only on changing patches. An assessment can help guide the next steps.
Do not pop a spot with your fingers or a needle to make a patch work better. Squeezing or picking at home can increase inflammation, infection and scarring.
If you have already picked at it, avoid pressing or reopening it. Stop touching it and check whether the product is intended for use on damaged skin.
Clean your hands and the area, then dry the skin before applying. Wear time, replacement and removal instructions vary by product; follow its label.
Do not assume that longer wear means faster recovery, or repeatedly stick it on and peel it off. Notice how your skin looks and feels before and after use.

Adhesive or added ingredients may not suit your skin. Stop if the outline of the patch becomes itchy or red, and seek medical advice if symptoms persist or worsen.
Seek prompt medical care for rapidly spreading redness with heat, swelling or worsening pain. Do not dismiss it as an ordinary breakout if you also have a fever or feel very unwell.
If deep, painful acne keeps returning or scars are developing, arrange a medical assessment rather than relying on patches alone.
Before visiting Mason Clinic, note the patch name and ingredients, wear time, products used with it and how symptoms changed. Unfiltered photos can help you describe the concern clearly.
At Mason Clinic, our consultation approach is to consider only what is needed, in the amount needed. Before adding products, review the current lesions and the pattern of recurrence.
A patch may provide supporting care in some situations, but it does not replace treatment for acne that needs medical attention. Appropriate care depends on your individual skin condition.
Check the patch type first. If breakouts recur, discuss your skin condition.
