A Guide to Recurring Facial Redness
Notice not only when redness starts, but how it settles and what comes with it.
“My face turns red whenever I get a little warm. Is it just sensitive skin?” Rather than judging by colour alone, start by noticing the pattern.
Hello from Mason Clinic, near Exit 7 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Seoul. Here are a few things to note before a consultation for recurring facial redness.

Note whether redness follows heat or exercise and then settles, or remains without an obvious trigger. When it began and how long it lasts can help you describe it during a visit.
Product irritation, dermatitis and rosacea are among the possibilities to assess. Rosacea may involve facial redness, burning and acne-like bumps, but redness does not always mean rosacea. Do not diagnose yourself from a photo.
Notice possible links with sunlight, heat, hot drinks or alcohol. Triggers differ from person to person. Rather than avoiding every food or activity, record situations that repeatedly affect you and discuss them.
Do not add scrubs or exfoliating products when your skin feels irritated. Consider gentle cleansing, moisturising and sun protection as your basics. Stop a new product if it stings; ask your clinician before changing prescribed medication.

Seek medical assessment if redness keeps returning, persists or causes discomfort. Medication or procedures depend on the cause and symptoms. No particular laser suits everyone, and a one-session solution cannot be promised.
Red, gritty or burning eyes should be assessed without delay. Eye pain or changes in vision need prompt appropriate care, such as an eye specialist. Bring details of products and medicines, unfiltered photos and a record of changes.
At Mason Clinic, our consultation approach is to consider only what is needed, in the amount needed. Review triggers and accompanying symptoms before choosing a procedure.
Tell us about products, medicines and previous treatments. The appropriate approach depends on your individual condition.
Before assuming the cause, note when redness returns and what accompanies it.
