Skin Care Guide
Your face may get daily care while your neck gets overlooked. Before adding another product for neck lines, take a look at moisturising and sun protection.
Hello from Mason Clinic.
“I can see lines on my neck. Should I buy a neck cream?”
Noticing your neck in a photo can leave you wondering where to start. Here are a few things to check before changing your routine.

Note when the concern started, whether your neck feels dry or itchy, and whether you recently changed products. These details can help guide a consultation.
Skin ageing and sun exposure are among the factors that can contribute to neck lines. A photograph or the position of a line alone cannot establish its cause or determine a suitable procedure.
A separate neck cream is not essential for everyone. Some facial moisturisers can be used on the neck, but a product that feels comfortable on your face may still irritate your neck.
Choose a moisturiser your skin tolerates. Hydration may soften the appearance of some fine lines associated with dryness; that is different from removing established, deeper wrinkles.
Before going outdoors, apply broad-spectrum sunscreen with SPF 30 or higher to the neck where clothing does not cover it. Use shade and protective clothing as well.
Reapply about every two hours outdoors and after swimming or heavy sweating. Water-resistant products do not provide permanent protection: follow the instructions on the label.
Neck skin may be more sensitive than facial skin. Avoid layering several intensive products or applying more than directed because lines are bothering you.
Stop a new product if it causes stinging or redness. Recurrent itching, a rash or cracked skin should be assessed separately from cosmetic wrinkle concerns.

Write down when and where you first noticed the concern; your moisturiser, sunscreen and recent additions; and any itching, stinging or previous procedures.
A consultation can explore your skin condition and the change you hope for. No single cream or procedure produces the same result for everyone; suitable options and precautions vary.
If your neck remains itchy, red or uncomfortable, seek medical advice rather than continuing to shop for products. Persistent or recurrent symptoms may need assessment for contact dermatitis or another cause.
Get prompt medical assessment for worsening pain, oozing, blisters or a rapidly worsening reaction. Cosmetic care for lines and medical care for skin symptoms serve different needs.
Before buying another product, check whether your daily moisturising and sun protection include your neck.
