Scalp and Hairline Care Guide
A neat hairstyle should not mean putting up with a sore scalp. Consider how tightly you tie your hair, repeated pulling, and any changes around your hairline.
A firm ponytail can be convenient for work or exercise. If taking it down is the only way your scalp feels comfortable, start by wearing it more loosely.
Tying your hair does not automatically cause hair loss. Repeated, strong tension on the same areas is worth reviewing, though. Mason Clinic, near Exit 7 of Sinnonhyeon Station in Seoul, explains what to consider before a consultation.

Styles that keep pulling on the hair, including a tight high ponytail or bun, can strain the follicles. Hair loss associated with repeated pulling is called traction alopecia.
Loosen a style that makes your scalp hurt or sting. A lack of discomfort does not necessarily mean prolonged pulling is harmless.
Notice whether short, broken hairs are appearing around your forehead or temples, or whether an area looks thinner. Mention whether these changes overlap with the areas under tension.
Short hairs are not always new growth or damage. One photograph cannot establish the type of hair loss.
Release a painfully tight style and choose a looser one that does not stretch your hairline. Avoid repeatedly wearing tension-heavy styles and give your hair a break.
Review habits such as sleeping with tightly tied hair or keeping extensions that feel uncomfortable. Avoid rubbing an already sore or red scalp vigorously.
Hairline changes and more general shedding can have different causes. Having a tight-hairstyle habit should not stop other causes from being considered.
Note where and when the change began, and any redness, itching, or pain. Seek a medical assessment if thinning spreads or discomfort persists.

Review the hair changes and repeated irritation before selecting a scalp tonic or injection. Appropriate care depends on the cause and the condition of the follicles.
Some cases may improve after pulling stops, while longstanding damage can limit recovery. No product or procedure can be promised to restore your previous hairline.
Describe where you tie your hair, when it becomes uncomfortable, and any extensions or hair treatments. Earlier photographs taken in similar lighting and from similar angles may help with comparison.
There is no need to pull your hair tighter or irritate your scalp for the appointment. Start with the change that concerns you most.
Even an everyday hairstyle deserves a comfort check. When discomfort or changes keep returning, understanding the cause comes before more intensive care.
When contacting Mason Clinic, tell us when and where you first noticed the change and how you usually style your hair.
At Mason Clinic, our principle is to recommend only what is needed, in the amount needed. Understanding your current condition and routine comes before choosing a procedure.
