The very small coagulated area created when ultrasound or laser energy gathers heat at a single point within the tissue.
It is created point by point, and the normal tissue around it is preserved. As these points recover, the tissue is described as tightening and a regenerative response occurring.
The depth at which coagulation points are created and how many of them there are is what connects to the number of shots. More is not unconditionally better; a design suited to the skin condition matters.
