A procedure in which threads that are gradually absorbed by the body are placed beneath the skin to support or draw up tissue.
Barbs on the thread catch the tissue and hold it in position, and a recovery response is known to occur in the surroundings as the thread is absorbed. There are various thread materials and shapes.
Change tends to be immediate, but duration differs according to the type of thread, the area and the condition of the tissue. In the early period after the procedure there may be lumpiness or discomfort, and a recovery period is needed.
